One of the greatest musicals of all time The Sound of Music is finally gracing our shores and performing at Perth’s Crown Theatre in September! Made famous by Julie Andrew’s movie adaptation of the show, The Sound of Music follows Maria’s new role as governess bringing joy through music to the von Trapp family during World War Two.
“Australia has taken The Sound of Music to its heart, with thunderous applause and standing ovations at every performance in Sydney and Brisbane. Rarely do we see such an acclaimed production of a much-loved classic. I’m so thrilled to bring The Sound of Music to Perth to round off our national tour. Make sure you buy a ticket soon as it’s sure to become one of your favourite things.
The Australian production features Amy Lehpalmer as Maria and Cameron Daddo as Captain von Trapp. Both are stunning choices for the roles with a long track record of television and stage roles. One actress I’m excited to see is Marina Prior who plays Baroness Schraeder. Prior is infamous in her performing ability but I’ve only ever seen her on Carols by Candlelight. With a selection of talent in both cast and creative team, this production of The Sound of Music is set for success and has already completed whirlwind seasons in Sydney and Melbourne.
Presale for the Perth season is on now, with the official ticket release opening to the public on the 16th of May. Get in while you can to score front row seats! For more information head to The Sound of Music website or visit the Ticketmaster website.
