11th January, 8pm | Enter the Funk II | The Bird, Northbridge | $5

Take a step into The Bird and enter a world of rhythm as you are taken through the smooth and wonderful journey that is funk. Driving the groove-mobile are your fearless captains: George Capelas, Nicole Filev, Rok Riley and DJ Aldi. 12th January, 7:30pm | Astral Bodies “Follow Me” Single Launch | The Good Shephard, Leederville | $5

Despite only forming themselves into an indie-rock band last year, Astral Bodies is kicking off 2017 the right way: with a single launch for their debut tune “Follow Me”! Joining these fellas are genre-benders Spacey Jane, heart throbs Moth and alt-band HIGH GLASS. It seems that single launches are synonymous for good vibed parties these days, and this one will be no different, so come celebrate!


13th January, 6pm | Poetry Under the Stars | Beeliar Wetlands Protector Camp, Coolbellup | Free

The protectors of the Beeliar Wetlands are calling all poets and wordsmiths for a night of poetry under the stars. Poets are invited to give their poems about the beautiful sacred land a voice as the community comes together to fight a worthy cause against Roe8! Bring your words, your hope and the desire for change.

RTRFM’s annual local music festival Distant Murmurs is back for its third year of bringing together Perth’s best & rising music acts! This year is their most diverse line-up yet with more than 20 acts happening across Rosemount Hotel’s three stages. A sample taste of the line-up includes sets by The Boost Hero Man, Empty, Flower Drums and Alwyn Lewis kicking off the fest at the Beer Garden stage; Hip Priest, Last Quokka and Sail On! Sail On will bring the noise, the mosh and the sweat in Bar Four5Nine; and ABACAXUVA, FOAM and Sly Withers take the main stage. Grab a ticket now and dive straight into some local talent!

The second of three free outdoor concerts brought to you by the City of Victoria Park has the bombshell of the psych-rock genre Psychedelic Porn Crumpets headlining. Supported by Reach1 Teach1’s hip hop showcase with TROOTH feat. CJ, and accompanied by a pop-up bar for the legal along with food and drinks on site, you’d be mad to miss this free show!

WEEK THREE: 16th – 22nd


18th January, 8pm | Little Simz (UK) | Jack Rabbit Slim’s, Northbridge | $30

Last year saw UK hip hop powerhouse Little Simz storm through Australia with a string of sold out shows behind her. This year, with her sophomore album Stillness in Wonderland only recently released, this gal returns to Australia along with her undeniable, unquestionable force. Hitting up Jack Rabbit Slim’s, Little Simz will no doubt be performing tracks both new and old, and although the supporting acts are still TBA, we have to believe they will submerge us straight into what will be a killer night.


20th January, 8pm | Fringe World: If My Body Was A Poem | Paper Mountain, Northbridge | Tickets

Perth-born, London-based internationally acclaimed performance poet Maddie Godfrey, returns home for her first Fringe World show “If My Body Was A Poem”. Known for her political spoken word poetry, Maddie explores body politics, gender and sexuality, and will continue this conversation at her Fringe World show. An important voice making an equally important social commentary, Maddie’s “If My Body Was A Poem” is not to miss! Her show will run from January 20th to the 26th.

GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS is probably exactly what you think it is, that is if you think it’s an art exhibition and live music show featuring an all women line-up! There will be a wonderful array of art by talented ladies such as TASHBIANCA, Frances Danckert, Ruby Smedley and Evelyn Ruth, as well as sounds of empowerment courtesy of Your Girl Pho, Kopano and Xanthea. What’s a better way to spend your night than to support your local gals?!

It’s time to grab that bling’d out denim jacket with matching jeans out from the depths of your closet because the nineties are back, baby! Returning for the first Summer Edition of 2017, Nineties to Noughties dedicate themselves to providing the best tunes from one of the best decades of the 20th century. Mr Sinclair, Lou Mac, Capelas and Kkylie Minogue will be taking turn behind the decks to give you a well-deserved throwback.


27th January, 7pm | Demon Days Single Launch | The Bird, Northbridge | $10

Perth’s “professional banger scientists” Demon Days are launching their latest sound “Lost In Translation” after many hangry and hardworking nights! Come along for a lil bev and a lil groove, as they’ll be joined by Wooly Mammoth and Spencer Arbuckle!


27th January, 9pm | Alex Dyson ‘Slave 2 da Rave 4eva’ | Amplifier Capitol, Perth | $18

If you missed out on the first and unforgettable 5 Raves in 5 Days, don’t beat yourself up about it no more! The City of Fremantle proudly presents “One Day in Fremantle”, an all-inclusive event happening at Freo’s Esplanade for all to come, share and enjoy what it means to be Australian. Musicians John Butler, Mama Kin, Gina Williams and Dan Sultan will be giving live performances throughout the day, and free family-friendly activities will be held for all to participate in! Everyone is welcome.
