In the last slice of this year’s Open Studio Night, join PICA in their most beloved talks with artists who are currently residents at the PICA studios. Get a peek inside the studios of artists Kate Moss (not to be confused with the model of the same name) & Magni Borgehed, Luisa Hansal and Tom Blake, as they explore the transcultural contexts, apophenia and memories in their creative and multi-disciplinary practices. Come down, have a cool bev and see what interesting shenanigans these artists are getting up to!
Now that school’s out, there’s no excuse not to start the holiday celebrations early. Have a very Semi-Decent Christmas and share it with Semi-Decent, a local publishing and street press that delivers the highs and lows of Western Australian culture through the written word. Start the party with tunes from ALDI, Basic Mind, Land of Nod and Rok Riley. While you’re there drinkin’ up the $5 Sly Fox, don’t forget to grab their last issue of the year!
Pack a picnic bring a rug and pillows and gather your dear pals; you’re invited to a double movie night! Settle comfortably with your complimentary coffee and popcorn and watch as Cinderella and The Dressmaker take the big screen. Pre-movie activities will include face painting, games and (just in case you forgot your picnic basket) stuffing your painted face with food truck cuisine!

If there’s a time to witness poetry at work, now will be it. With the political climate tense as ever, the only way to move through it is together through solidarity. Come and experience a night resistance poetry performed by local poets Leni Battalis, Luka Buchanan, Alex Biddle, Marziya Mohammedali, Jesse Oliver, Laundry Man, Scott-Patrick Mitchell, Ru (and more!) to get us all to the Other side. This is poetry as power, poetry as resistance, poetry as healing.
