Get your (most musically informed) mates together and head to Bar 459 for a music trivia night fuelled by humour and absurdity! MC’ing the night is the talented Blake H. who finds himself behind the microphone regularly, whether it be singing vocals or a bit of spoken word poetry here and there. With your pals and $10 jugs of Swan by your side, you’ve got three rounds to show off your musical mastery and win the most wanted trivia prize to have ever existed: a vinyl trophy filled with sweets, gig tickets, beers, and bragging rights.
Following the debut of their first EP, Oakland ended 2015 with a flourish to top off a killer year. Well and truly deserving of some hibernation, the Fremantle-based band is taking some time off for some R&R, as well as generating some new material that’ll be released before this year end. Of course, they aren’t leaving us without a goodbye and are hosting the aptly named gig, ‘Hiatus’ before their break. So make sure you catch them, because it’ll be some time before we see these boys hitting the stage again.
18th June, 6pm-10pm | Scitech After Dark: Dinosaurs. All My Friends Are Dead [18+] | Scitech, West Perth | $19
Honestly ask yourself, when was the last time you went to Scitech? I’m guessing your answer is either way back in primary school or a forced school excursion in high school when you were studying astronomy. Now that you’re a bit older and a tad wiser, I reckon you should head back there and treat the inner child that never left. The night will include a live show in the wicked Planetarium, an adult puppet show, the Explore-a-saurus exhibition, and over 100 exhibitions. So grab a mate, find a dinosaur costume, and make your way to Scitech for a pre-historical adventure!
If you’ve never checked out an ice hockey match (even on the screen), now’s your opportunity! And it’s right in the city of Perth! Make sure you head to the slick Perth Arena this weekend to watch Team USA go head to head with Team Canada for a clash you won’t want to miss! This year, the classic winter sport will be raising awareness for the STOPCONCUSSIONS Foundation, which aims to bring attention to the growing trend of concussions in sports.
